Pedagogical specialist Edith Sturm is honored in a ceremony
The school year is only a few weeks old and the school community at Levana School, a school with a focus on holistic and motor development in the district of Ahrweiler, already had something to celebrate. Pedagogical specialist Edith Sturm was celebrating her 40th anniversary of service. She was honored in a ceremony surrounded by almost a hundred pupils and her colleagues.
Framed by various songs of the jubilarian's wishes, which were sung together and accompanied by the teachers' band, Headmaster Gerd Jung, Ulla Schüren from the local staff council and class representative Lea-Christin Weber presented their views on the special qualities and merits of colleague and class teacher Edith Sturm and took the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to her.
Gerd Jung briefly described Ms. Sturm's career and emphasized that the then 20-year-old young woman began her service at Levana School on 11.09.1978, which had only been in existence for 4 years at the time. She has remained at this school for 39 years, a record that no one else has ever achieved and probably never will. During these years, Edith Sturm took part in numerous further and advanced training courses (e.g. additional training in special education for social education specialists at special schools, IT further training) and acquired several additional qualifications (e.g. teaching license for sport in special schools). She also championed the interests of the school as a member of the staff council.
The principal expressed his special thanks to his long-time colleague for her great commitment to the school community and the many ideas with which she enriched school life. Colleagues describe her as friendly, approachable, always helpful and collegial and also refer to her as the "decoration queen", as she has given school festivals and celebrations such as carnival, school dismissals, Christmas etc. a worthy setting with her creative decorations over the years. Her wealth of ideas and her wide repertoire of pedagogical skills have benefited and continue to benefit her pupils first and foremost, as the teacher always finds suitable support approaches to strengthen the skills of her protégés. To this day, she is willing to learn and is open to new approaches and media for the benefit of her pupils.
At the end of his laudatory speech, Gerd Jung noted that fortunately no era is coming to an end, but that the time with Ms. Sturm should continue for a few more years.
Finally, he once again expressed his thanks and appreciation on behalf of the state government and presented Edith Sturm with a certificate of thanks from the Minister President of Rhineland-Palatinate, Malu Dreyer.
After all the appreciative words and contributions, the jubilarian herself took the microphone and addressed a few personal words of thanks to the assembled school community, to whom she has felt connected for so many years of her career. Edith Sturm is particularly grateful for the support of her work from her family and friends, the parents of the pupils and various business people and institutions in the Ahrweiler district. This good cooperation is the prerequisite for visiting extracurricular places of learning in order to provide her pupils with lively, vivid and varied lessons.
