Levana School visits the zoo
Lions Club makes a special excursion possible for the school community.
Pupils at the Levana School in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler have been taught at two special schools in the Neuwied district since August 2021. The two school locations Feldkirchen and Engers are 10 kilometers apart, so the students have hardly seen each other at all during the current school year. For this reason, the Lions Club Nieder-Olm was very happy to accept the invitation to finance a day out for the entire school community. On June 2, the time had come. The students and teachers met at Neuwied Zoo in good weather in the morning and started the day with breakfast on the large terrace of the zoo restaurant. After lining up for a group photo, the classes set off to explore the animals and their habitats on the large or smaller circular route, depending on the students' interests and needs. Again and again they met classmates and colleagues and had the opportunity for a short exchange.

This shared meal was another opportunity to experience the "old" school community once again. Most of the classes spent the remaining time until the school buses arrived on the large playground and in the petting zoo. Here - just like in the school playground before the flood disaster - it was possible to enjoy each other's company across all classes and old friendships between classmates who had not seen each other for a long time were rekindled. It was an all-round successful event and the wish of the initiators of the Nieder-Olm Lions Club to give the children a wonderful and joyful day was completely fulfilled. (M. Meyerhoff)
