Spring awakening at the Levana School
School party with great response
The Levana School in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, a school with a focus on holistic and motor development, celebrated its school festival on April 1 in a spring-like atmosphere under the motto: Living and learning at the Levana School. At the beginning, pupils, teachers and visitors gathered in the gymnasium. Principal Gerd Jung welcomed all those present and moderated the entertaining stage program. Before and after the entertaining student performances, he invited the approximately 250 guests to sing along with the school community choir. The songs were taken from the large repertoire of Levana hits and were accompanied by the teachers' band. With the song "Ein Fest, denn heut ist Partytime, ein Fest für alle: Groß und Klein", the school community invited its guests, including many alumni, to a joyful day of encounters at their school. The school building with all its classrooms, specialist rooms and therapy rooms was open to interested visitors and offered them insights into special support concepts, such as the basal stimulation method in the Snoezelen room, augmentative and alternative communication or the TEACCH concept. Visitors were also able to try out learning with iPads using examples from classroom practice, a slideshow showed highlights from school life and visitors young and old were able to get active themselves on the roller board course, planting, crafting, baking waffles or playing fishing in the exercise pool. A bouncy castle was popular with the children and imaginative face painting brought smiles to the faces of onlookers. In the afternoon, actors from the Erlebnis-Akademie Rheinbach transformed the schoolyard into a circus ring and invited the children to join in. With tips and tricks, they motivated the young artists to try out their skills in plate spinning, balancing on the tightrope, hula hooping or handling the diabolo.
As in previous years, dedicated parents once again ensured the smooth running of the culinary catering for the guests, who were able to choose between hearty meals or coffee, homemade cakes and cold drinks.
Many former colleagues and pupils and their families also accepted the invitation to the school party and were delighted to see each other again. All around, small groups were seen sitting together in lively personal or professional exchanges and many happy faces were seen. (M. Meyerhoff)
