Intensive cooking course from
Aufwind Ahr at the Levana School inspired

Pupils cook with top chef Jean-Marie Dumaine
Ahr valley. An intensive cooking course was recently held in the practice kitchen of the Levana School in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. Under the guidance of top chef Jean-Marie Dumaine and his wife Colette, the students eagerly chopped, cooked and seasoned. The group was supported by Aufwind project manager Michael Müller, class teacher Ms. Roguljic and two other members of staff from the school.
The Levana School is a school with a focus on holistic and motor development. In addition to the opportunity to discover, develop and strengthen their own skills and competencies, the cooking course should be fun and promote community. "With the cooking course, we want to give the pupils food for thought about sustainability, seasonality and originality in an interesting way," says Michael Müller, summarizing the idea for the participatory project.
As a result, the nine students served up a delicious three-course gourmet menu.
All participants, as well as the principal Mrs. Römermann and the deputy principal Mr. Müller, were so enthusiastic that a continuation was promised.
The Aufwind - Deine Chance Ahrtal project, financed by ADRA Deutschland e.V., has been specifically promoting participation projects for children and young people in the Ahr valley since the floods.

A sporting symbol of fairness and solidarity at the JUMA Stadium in Mayschoß

Strong together: Inclusion tournament unites schools from the region
A very special school sporting event took place as part of the Week of Inclusion of the Diocese of Trier on May 06, 2025 in Mayschoß. The Haus der offenen Tür in Sinzig organized the event as part of the "Aufwind - Deine Chance Ahrtal" project, financed by ADRA Deutschland e.V. a joint soccer day for young people between the ages of 12 and 16. The following teams from Sinzig took part Barbarossaschule, the Janusz-Korczak-Schule from Sinzig and the Levana-Schule from Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler. The youngsters met for a joint soccer inclusion tournament, where the focus was not on competition but on togetherness.
The special feature: The pupils did not compete against each other in school teams - instead, the teams were mixed and put together fairly. This meant that everyone had the same chance to score a goal, make contact with others and have fun playing together. Boundaries became blurred and team spirit took center stage.
"The tournament showed how inclusion can succeed in practice - with mutual respect, teamwork and the joy of movement," emphasized project manager Michael Müller. Everyone involved agreed that this tournament was more than just a sporting competition - it was a strong symbol of diversity and community.
