Dhe Special school celebratese their fiftieth Birthday with a successful summer party
On Saturday, June 15, 2024, the Levana School in Ahrweiler celebrated its 50th anniversary with a colourful program and invited guests to the Budenzauber. Although not at its founding location in Piusstrasse, it was at its temporary location in Schützenstrasse.
The schoolyard was designed in the style of a funfair and numerous stalls invited young and old to play and have fun. In addition to a throwing and shooting gallery, there was duck fishing, a photo box, face painting, batik and soap bubbles. The raffle organized by the dedicated parents enticed with attractive prizes. External supporters made the festival even more colorful. Clown Lefti created a good atmosphere with his jokes and the exercise course as well as the painting and craft activities offered by the painting circus and the Ahrtal Foundation were very popular. Caritas employees presented their projects and workshop work to interested visitors. Visitors were also well catered for with hearty meals, crêpes, waffles, candy floss and popcorn. A nostalgic ice cream bike was also in operation.
The birthday celebrations began with a ceremony in the lovingly decorated gymnasium. In addition to numerous guests, former principals Helmut Gimmler and Gerd Jung also accepted the invitation. Some of the students welcomed the guests and Fabienne confidently led them through the program. In addition to District Administrator Cornelia Weigand, State Secretary Bettina Brück also congratulated the school community. Pastors Peter Dörrenbächer and Thomas Rheindorf conveyed their greetings via video message, which included personal words and pictures from the school's religious educators (Gisela Schopp, Maria Cramer, Sandra Petkovski). Mrs. Charlotte Schön congratulated on behalf of the parents and Headmistress Kathrin Römermann, who was invited on stage by Marlene via a talker speech, explained key aspects of the school's diverse life. The entire program was framed and livened up by the teachers' band, who entertained their audience with very original lyrics and musical performances.
After the ceremony, visitors had the opportunity to enjoy refreshments, take advantage of the stalls on offer or meet up with friends and acquaintances in the beer garden. Many former pupils and colleagues also attended and everyone was delighted to see each other again. Even the weather cooperated, so that the colorful hustle and bustle could take place outside as planned.
After the lunch break, all guests were invited to the musical "50 Years of Levana School". During the previous project week, pupils from all classes had looked at the history of the school and staged key highlights. This resulted in a very colorful and moving review of the school's fifty-year history, which was moderated with a lot of insider knowledge and charm by long-time colleague Sophia Garcia. As a grand finale, the entire school community gathered on stage and presented the new school anthem composed by Horst Schäfer. The refrain: "We are unique, we are special, we celebrate life day by day. We belong together, whether big or small, we are unspeakably proud to be part of Levana!", sung so fervently that everyone in the audience realized how special this school community is and what a great sense of togetherness is behind it.
After the performance, there was once again the magic of the stalls, companions and friends of the school met up and exchanged one or two anecdotes before going home satisfied and inspired.
